Absolutely hate it, especially because they make no effort to hide it and do not sell the match facially at all while they do it. Pretty beautiful since in real time it looks like he hit the head on the mat. Miss the shit out of Punk tho. Schiovane do know most, if not all the matches ending, but he never told anybody, especially Heenan. Cena force you to feel him.

I think JR and King admitted that in their prime they would request not to be told what would happen so that the commentary sounded more authentic. That first one is probably my biggest wrestling pet peeve.

I hope we see a moment like this recreated a few years down the road in a Zayn-Owens match. So the ref just carries on as usual, kayfabe still exists in some ways. Or maybe not always, but if its not some huge exciting match I can. Some of my favorite sports commentary comes from people that obviously do a lot of prep work for calling an event, but this is basically what I’d go with in an ideal situation as well. There is too much sameness to the flow of each match.

Well its not working- I can always tell a near fall by the way Cole calls it. Just know it would have delivered big time. Such a great match, I never anticipated seeing such a long, Wrestlemania-quality match on a random Raw, I believe 2 or 3 weeks before Mania too.

No spoilers in titles for 24 hours after a show has aired. Makes it not quite as sad since its such a stupid tradition. These days, the traditional piledriver, where one puts their stomach to their victim’s back, is almost unseen.

Note that even Vince on commentary says it’s a tombstone piledriver. It sucks that it was a nearfall, but at least it was unexpected and an obvious desperation move.
